I am, by nature, fiscally conservative: I believe in balanced budgets that prioritize the needs of working families. That’s why I’m committed to funding K-12 schools, career and technical education, and rural health care. Oregonians work hard for their money, and they deserve a good return on their investment in state government.
Oregon’s K-12 schools, career and technical training centers, and colleges and universities are vital to empowering Oregonians to become prosperous, self-sufficient citizens. Unfortunately, our current State Representative doesn’t share our priorities and voted against college tuition transparency. That’s why, as our next State Representative, I will work with parents, teachers, school administrators, and industry leaders to ensure our state’s schools are preparing our kids for success without having to shoulder an unreasonable student debt burden. As the son of educators, I know the value of an education and will fight to ensure our kids are the legislature’s top funding priority.
Access to quality, affordable health care is a right. It is unacceptable for the United States to remain the only developed nation to fail to provide health care for all of its citizens. Unfortunately, our current State Representative sees no problem with the U.S. having a second-rate health-care system, and even sided with big pharmaceutical corporations against prescription price transparency. I refuse to accept the premise that Americans should settle for a second-rate health-care system. That’s why, as our next State Representative, I will work tirelessly with doctors, nurses, and health care providers to build a strong, affordable system for delivering these crucial services, especially in rural areas. A vote for Danny Jaffer is a vote for health care for all Oregonians.
Environment and Natural Resources
It is fundamentally unfair for dirty industries to pass the costs of their pollution on to clean industries like farms and vineyards. Recognizing the dangers of climate change, it’s imperative that we take steps to reduce harmful carbon emissions. Moreover, clean air and clean water is a birthright of all Oregonians. That’s why I strongly support the Clean Energy Jobs bill. A vote for Danny Jaffer is a vote to enact this crucial legislation.
Small businesses are the lifeblood of our local economies. That’s why it’s imperative that we maintain a regulatory and revenue structure that encourages entrepreneurship and supports a vibrant and diverse small business community. Where regulations are onerous, unfair, or misaligned, the legislature has a duty to get it right or get out of the way. As our next State Representative, I will work with small business owners, industry leaders, labor organizations, and experts to ensure our laws promote economic growth and jobs.
Agriculture and Viticulture
Agriculture and viticulture support thousands of jobs in Oregon House District 23, and are crucial to a way of life we all hold dear. That’s why, as our next State Representative, I will have my door open to farmers, be willing to discuss and work on regulatory structures that work, and re-establish the Legislative Wine Caucus so that every proposed law is studied for its impact on winegrowers, the wine industry, and all farmers. A vote for Danny Jaffer is a vote for a strong and supportive regulatory and revenue structure that encourages and rewards farmers and winegrowers for the contributions they make to Oregon’s economy.
