Jaffer Secures Democratic Party’s Nomination for Oregon House District 23
Independence, OR – May 15, 2018 – Today, retired Naval Aviator Danny Jaffer officially secured the Democratic Party’s nomination for Oregon House District 23. Jaffer will face incumbent state Rep. Mike Nearman (R – Independence) in the General Election on November 6, 2018.
“I’m honored and privileged to accept the nomination for Oregon House District 23,” said Jaffer. “From day one, this campaign has been about making rural Oregon a better place to make a home, grow a business, and raise a family,” Jaffer added.
“Whether we’re Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Greens, or non-affiliated, we all want the same things: great schools so our kids are ready upon graduation, tax fairness so our small business owners can get ahead, and clean air and water so our farms, forests, and vineyards can thrive. That’s what it means to move Oregon forward.”
Jaffer, who was unopposed in the Democratic primary, was born and raised in Polk County. He earned a bachelor’s degree in technical journalism from Oregon State University and served as a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Navy for over twenty years, including deployments in Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, and the Global War on Terrorism. Jaffer also earned a law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law and currently serves as the president of the Luckiamute Domestic Water Cooperative Board of Directors. Jaffer and his family reside in rural Polk County, south of Independence.
